Harvest Caye, in one paragraph

Harvest Caye is a private island owned by Norwegian Cruise Line, a few kilometres off the coast of southern Belize. Ships dock at its own pier, and everything on the island, from the beach to the pool and the zipline, is run for cruise passengers. Norwegian, Oceania and Regent Seven Seas ships call here, all from the same family of cruise lines.

On the island, the day is a beach day: the long beach, the lagoon, the pool area and the activities sold on site. Beyond it, everything is an organized excursion:

After a day inside a private resort, Roatán is the opposite: a real island, villages, the reef a few fins from the beach. Is Harvest Caye a real port in Belize?
It is a private island owned and run by Norwegian Cruise Line, off the coast of southern Belize near Placencia. Ships dock at the island's own pier and you walk ashore. There is no town on the island: the beach, the pool, the restaurants and the activities are all run for cruise passengers.
What is included at Harvest Caye?
The beach, the main pool area and the basic food served on the island are generally included in your cruise. Extras such as cabanas, some activities and the excursions to the mainland are paid. Your cruise line's documents for the call give the exact list.
Can I leave Harvest Caye on my own?
Not easily: there is no public ferry or road from the pier. Leaving the island means an organized excursion, booked with the ship or with an operator allowed on the island. Placencia village is about 6 km away in a straight line, the reef cayes 14 to 23 km, and the Maya ruins of southern Belize much further.
