The hotel

The Mayan Princess Roatán, the small beach hotel of West Bay

The Mayan Princess Roatán isn’t a sprawling mega-resort — and that’s exactly its charm. Set right on West Bay Beach — the finest ribbon of white sand on the island — this intimate little hotel of about 90 rooms is all about quiet, the sea and the diving rather than the glitz. The Canadian travelers who come back year after year put it well: “a very quiet little hotel, the beach is gorgeous, everything revolves around the diving and snorkeling right nearby.”

It’s the ideal address if you’re after a toes-in-the-sand stay, no crowds, with the reef at your doorstep and real human contact instead of a tourist factory.

Snorkeling and diving straight from the beach

If the Mayan Princess Beach & Dive Resort carries the word “dive” in its name, that’s no accident. The Mesoamerican reef — the second largest in the world — is reachable by swimming, with no boat and no paid excursion. You walk a few minutes toward the western end of the beach, slip on your fins, and you’re floating over living coral, tropical fish and, if you’re lucky, rays and turtles.

A longtime traveler says it better than I can: “we’ve never had such easy access to a coral reef for snorkeling — absolutely stunning, and no current to fight.” If you want to go further, the on-site dive center ranks among the most respected in West Bay for scuba outings and PADI certifications.

And if you’d like to explore the island’s best sites with a trilingual guide — the deep walls, Pigeon Cay, the wrecks — I coordinate it all for you: discover all my guided excursions →.

Condo rooms and the Las Sirenas section

The resort splits into two moods. Most of the units are condo-style suites with a full kitchen (coffee maker, fridge, microwave), a living area and a big balcony — perfect for families and extended stays. The Las Sirenas by Mayan Princess section offers more compact rooms, Spanish-style with high ceilings.

Either way, cleanliness comes up like a refrain in the reviews. Tell me what you’re looking for: I’ll confirm the exact room category before locking in your reservation, so there are no unpleasant surprises.

All-inclusive: what’s included, what’s extra

The Mayan Princess Roatán all inclusive is built around a buffet with a different theme each evening plus an à la carte restaurant. Because it’s a small hotel, the offering is simpler than a Mexico or Dominican Republic mega all-inclusive — but the regulars love exactly that authentic, unpretentious side of it.

What’s never included by default — and what I coordinate for you:

  • 🚐 Round-trip transfers from RTB airport ↔ West Bay (30 to 40 min by road)
  • 🏝️ Excursions around the island (Pigeon Cay, guided snorkeling, microbrewery, dolphins)
  • 🤿 Scuba diving and PADI certifications with a trilingual guide
  • 🐠 Guided snorkeling outings to the best spots on the reef

I negotiate the full package — stay + transfers + your chosen excursions — at the best price, in English, French or Spanish, with no agency fees.

West Bay: the most beautiful beach on Roatán

The Mayan Princess shares West Bay Beach with other lively resorts like Infinity Bay and Henry Morgan. This is the island’s beach heart: white sand, calm clear water, spectacular sunsets and a village (West End) a short water-taxi ride away.

A few days a week, cruise-ship day-trippers use the beach between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. — but the hotel keeps a section reserved for its guests on those days, and a local guide like me knows exactly when the sea is yours.

How to get here from Canada

Roatán is reachable on direct flights during the winter season (December to April). Starting December 12, 2026, Air Canada launches its very first direct flight to the island — a historic first. Sunwing and WestJet continue to operate from Canada depending on the season.

What travelers say about the Mayan Princess

Reviews of the Mayan Princess all point the same way: a gorgeous beach, exceptional snorkeling right from shore, and warm staff. One traveler from Brampton captures the spirit of the place: “the beach was out of this world and incredibly clean, the water crystal clear, and the staff always smiling.” Another regular, on his fourth visit, calls it a “small, intimate resort” you’re sorry to leave.

I’m happy to share the most recent feedback before you book — I’m on the island and I’ll tell you straight how it is, the good and the not-so-good.

« Le meilleur hôtel-condo à Roatán, tout était parfait, je ne serais pas repartie. La plongée sur place à partir de la plage est excellente. Les bateaux-taxis pour aller à West End à 3 $ permettent d'aller facilement au village avec tous les restos, bars et boutiques. Aucun moustique à notre hôtel. »

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Where is the Mayan Princess Roatán located?
The Mayan Princess Beach & Dive Resort sits right on West Bay Beach, at the western tip of Roatán — the island's most celebrated stretch for white sand and turquoise water. Figure roughly 30 to 40 minutes by road from Juan Manuel Gálvez International Airport (RTB).
Can you snorkel and dive at the Mayan Princess?
Yes, and that's its signature. The Mesoamerican reef is swimmable: you walk a few minutes toward the western end of the beach and slip on your fins straight from shore — no boat, no paid excursion. The on-site dive center is one of the most respected in West Bay for scuba outings and certifications.
Is the Mayan Princess an all-inclusive hotel?
The Mayan Princess offers an all-inclusive plan with a different themed buffet each evening plus an à la carte restaurant. It's a small, intimate resort (around 90 condo-style rooms), not a mega all-inclusive: you come here for the quiet, the beach and the diving. Send me your dates — I'll confirm exactly what's included and negotiate the best price.
What is Las Sirenas by Mayan Princess?
Las Sirenas is the resort's more traditional room section (Spanish style, high ceilings), distinct from the large Mayan Princess condo suites with a full kitchen. Depending on your package, you might be booked into one or the other — tell me what you prefer and I'll check the category before I reserve.
Are the Mayan Princess rooms condos?
A large share of the units are condo-style suites with a full kitchen (coffee maker, fridge, microwave), a living area and a big balcony — handy for families and longer stays. The Las Sirenas section offers more compact rooms. Both are known for how clean they are.
Are there cruise ships on the beach?
A few days a week, cruise-ship day-trippers use West Bay Beach roughly between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. On those days, though, the hotel keeps a section of beach reserved for its guests. I'll steer you to the best times for snorkeling and outings — one of the perks of having a local guide.
How do I book my stay and my excursions in English, French or Spanish?
Message me on Messenger with your dates and the number of travelers. I'll get back to you quickly with a tailored proposal — stay, transfers and guided excursions — in English, French or Spanish, with no agency fees and no obligation.
