Is Fantasy Island open?
Yes. The resort has fully reopened.
It is the first question people ask, and fairly so: on the night of 2 March 2026, a major fire tore through much of the resort. I was on the island, and I wrote up what happened with the sources and the footage, without the drama.

What matters from that night: nobody was hurt. The rebuild is done since. The season is on sale from 12 December 2026 to 31 January 2027, all-inclusive, seven nights, out of Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa and Quebec City. Montreal and Toronto carry the most dates; Quebec City has a single one, the week of New Year’s. If you want to know what has changed on the ground since your last visit, ask me. Where it is, and what that changes
Fantasy Island sits on its own 9-hectare island, joined to Roatán at French Harbour on the south coast. That is not brochure detail: the island lies in sheltered water, so the sea stays calm here when the north shore is taking the winter trade winds.

South coast means two honest things: you are a long way from West Bay and its nightlife, and you are close to the fishing harbour, which is where the dive boats and the day trips leave from.
What all-inclusive covers here
The plan covers three buffet meals, daytime buffet snacks, and local drinks, alcoholic or not. Add daytime and evening entertainment, access to all the pools and private beaches, a scheduled activity programme, and wifi in the public areas.
What stays extra: scuba courses, the excursion desk, parking and medical services.
Diving and the reef
This is the real argument for this resort, and it holds up without stretching: a PADI 5-star dive centre, a private marina for departures, and direct access to the Mesoamerican reef, the second largest coral reef in the world.

A day here without staying
If you are off a ship for the day, the question is not the room, it is access. A private island with beaches, pools and a dive centre is exactly the kind of place people look for between two port calls.

Getting there, and getting around
About twenty minutes from the airport, less from the cruise port at Coxen Hole. Agree the taxi fare before you get in, every time.
