Carnival Celebration: She Docks at Isla Tropicale, Not Coxen Hole

She is the first ship in these pages that does not land at the main pier. The terminal exit, the walk and the meeting point are all different, and that is what you need to know before anything else.

The Carnival Celebration is the first ship in these pages that does not land at the main pier. Before her size, before her capacity, before anything else, that is what matters.

She docks at Isla Tropicale, not Coxen Hole

Isla Tropicale, which many still know by its former name of Mahogany Bay, is the island’s second pier. Over the next twelve months the port of Roatán takes 372 calls at Coxen Hole against 165 at Isla Tropicale.

That imbalance has a practical consequence: most of the advice you will read online describes the exit from the other pier. The jetty, the terminal, the walk to meet a guide and the drive west are not the same.

⚓ If your cruise is on this ship, read the Isla Tropicale page before the generic guides: it is about your pier.

One call a month, not one a week

12 calls over twelve months, Wednesday seven times and Thursday five. But above all: 27 to 29 days between visits, and once 56.

That is very different from the other ships I keep a page for, which come back every one or two weeks. Here, if your date does not line up, the next one is a month away.

Her hours move too: three different schedules across those 12 calls, 8am to 4pm five times, 8am to 5pm five times, and 9am to 6pm twice. Between the shortest and the longest there are two hours of difference.

⚖️ The register’s hours are not estimated, not one of the 12. But they change from date to date: yours is the one that counts, not an hour read somewhere else.

The day in port

She is never alone at the pier. Not once in 12 calls.

On a median day the port holds 14,363 cruise passengers and she accounts for 37%. The rest arrive with the Symphony of the Seas, the MSC Seascape, the Norwegian Breakaway and the Carnival Liberty. The crowding calendar gives you the exact count for your date.

Her size, and one number that describes her better than the rest

1,132 ft (345 m) long, 138 ft (42 m) wide, 18 decks of which 11 carry cabins, for a gross tonnage of about 183,900. She entered service in 2022, Excel class.

The figure that tells you the most is none of those, it is the passenger-to-space ratio: 29. Compare that with the Symphony of the Seas at 36 and the Icon of the Seas at 34. That is the volume available per person, and it is the tightest of the ships I keep a page for.

It is not a flaw, it is a design choice: this ship is built around her attractions rather than around space per head. But if how crowded a ship feels matters to you, that number will tell you more than her length.

On capacity: 5,374 at double occupancy, up to 6,338, plus 1,735 crew.

Her sisters, and they call here too

Of her four sister ships, two dock at Roatán, at the same pier she uses: the Carnival Jubilee, 25 calls a year, and the Carnival Mardi Gras, 9 calls. The Festivale and the Tropicale do not come.

⚓ Carnival is the port’s second line with 14 ships and 139 calls over twelve months. If your cruise is on another of their ships, the Carnival page covers them all.

Where does she sail?

Seven-night round-trips from Miami, in the Caribbean.

⚓ Let me be straight about what this page is good for. Carnival publishes the full itinerary, better than I ever could. I have one call on that programme. What I have that they do not is the exact pier, the real hours, and what happens ashore that day.

What to do on her port day

One call a month, at a pier most guides ignore, on a day when three other ships are unloading. That is exactly the kind of day when leaving early, in a small group, with someone who knows the Isla Tropicale exit, is the difference between a good day and a day spent in traffic.

The numbers, read from the port register

Every figure in this table is computed at build time from the Roatán port schedule, read on September 8, 2026. None of it is typed in by hand.
