MSC World America: the Most Predictable Port Day in Roatán

Monday, 26 times out of 26. Nine to six, on all 26. She is the ship whose day I can tell you about furthest in advance, and more than half the time she has the pier to herself.

Cruise port call

The MSC World America entered service in 2025. She is not the biggest ship calling at Roatán, and she is not the most famous. She is the one whose day I can tell you about with the most certainty, and on an island where everyone sells the unexpected, that is worth something.

When does she call at Roatán?

Monday. Twenty-six times out of twenty-six.

I do not know another ship on the schedule I can write that about. The Icon of the Seas calls on a Tuesday 20 times out of 23. The Star of the Seas splits between Wednesday and Thursday. The MSC World America never deviates across the next twelve months.

And the hours do not move either: 9am to 6pm, on all 26 calls. The Icon, over the same period, has four different port schedules.

⚖️ I checked that this was not an artefact before making an argument of it: not one of those 26 calls carries an estimated time. The regularity is published, not filled in by default.

What that changes for you is simple. On most ships I say “only your exact date counts”, and it is true. On this one, the date and the hours are known months ahead, and a nine-hour day can actually be planned.

The quietest port day

Fourteen times out of twenty-six, she has the pier to herself.

This is my favourite figure in the whole file, and I am going to give it honestly rather than round it up: roughly one call in two, not all of them. On the other twelve Mondays she shares the port, most often with the Norwegian Luna.

For comparison: the Icon of the Seas is alone once in 23 calls. The Star of the Seas, never.

On a Monday when she is alone, the island takes her 5,240 passengers and nothing else. The beaches, the roads and the sites look nothing like a Tuesday when three ships empty at once. The port crowding calendar tells you which of the two days is waiting for you.

Her size, and a comparison worth getting right

1,093 ft (333 m) long, 154 ft (47 m) wide, 22 decks of which 12 carry cabins. Gross tonnage, about 215,863.

⚠️ She has more decks than the Icon of the Seas (22 against 19) while being 105 ft shorter and considerably less voluminous (215,863 against 250,800 tons). “Bigger” means nothing until you say bigger in what: this is a narrower, taller ship.

On capacity: 5,240 at double occupancy, up to 6,774 with every berth in use, plus 2,138 crew. Her passenger-to-space ratio is 33, very close to the Icon’s 34.

Her sister ships are the MSC World Europa, World Asia and World Atlantic. ⚓ None of the three calls at Roatán, which makes her the only one of her class you will meet here.

Where does she sail?

Round-trips from Miami, on seven- and fourteen-night Caribbean loops.

⚓ Let me be straight about what this page is good for. MSC publishes the full itinerary, better than I ever could. I have one call on that programme. What I have that they do not is what happens during that one day, from the ground.

What to do on her port day

Nine hours, on a Monday, often with no other ship alongside. That is the best possible set-up for a day ashore in Roatán, and it is the one I can book for you furthest in advance.

The numbers, read from the port register

Every figure in this table is computed at build time from the Roatán port schedule, read on September 8, 2026. None of it is typed in by hand.
