Splash Inn Dive Resort, in West End
Splash Inn Dive Resort is a small dive hotel set in West End, the walkable village on Roatán’s west coast. You don’t come here for an all-you-can-eat buffet or a mile of beach — you come to dive twice a day and walk to dinner in the evening.
It’s a different proposition from the big all-inclusive resorts at West Bay like Infinity Bay or Henry Morgan — smaller, more focused on the water, anchored in a village with its own evening life.
West End vs. West Bay: the real choice
It’s the question everyone asks before booking, and the answer fits in one line: West End you see on foot, West Bay you see by golf cart or taxi.
West End is a compact village — dive shops, restaurants, beach bars, all within walking distance of Splash Inn. The vibe is more local, more low-key, with a well-regarded restaurant scene at night. West Bay is Roatán’s most photographed beach, wider and longer, but also busier during the day with cruise-ship excursions.
If your trip is built around diving and you want to walk out for dinner without arranging transport, West End — and Splash Inn — is the right call. If a long beach outside your lounge chair all day is the priority, West Bay will suit you better.
A day of diving at Splash Inn
The dive center is built into the hotel: no taxi in the morning, the boat leaves from the property’s own dock. The standard program runs two tank dives a day, with gear available on site and a team that knows the West End sites well — shallow reefs, walls, and a few wrecks nearby.
For divers who want to range beyond West End, I also coordinate guided trips to other parts of the island — wrecks, deep walls, coral caves: see all my guided excursions →.
The plan: breakfast only, and why that’s an advantage
Splash Inn is not all-inclusive. The plan is room and breakfast: your stay and your morning meal are included; lunch and dinner are on you at the village restaurants.
That changes the math: the nightly rate typically runs lower than an equivalent all-inclusive, but the total weekly bill grows with meals eaten out — except you’re in West End, where restaurants are plentiful, good, and a short walk away. Plenty of divers prefer that freedom to one buffet repeated seven nights in a row.
What I coordinate for you beyond the stay itself:
- 🚐 Round-trip transfers between the airport and West End
- 🤿 Extra dives and specialty trips beyond the base program
- 🏝️ Excursions elsewhere on the island
What travelers are saying about Splash Inn
Reviews for Splash Inn Dive Resort are just starting to come in on the Roatán Québécois side — the hotel was only recently added to the portfolio. What’s already coming back from divers who’ve stayed there: a serious dive operation, a location that eliminates the need for a car entirely, and the feel of a small hotel rather than a big resort. Ask me for the latest feedback before you book — I’m on the island and I’ll tell you straight.
Who Splash Inn is for
Splash Inn isn’t trying to be everything to everyone, and that’s its strength. It’s a good fit if:
- You’re diving regularly during your trip, not just once “to try it”
- You’d rather walk to dinner than book a golf cart or taxi every night
- You’re traveling as a couple or with fellow divers and want a more intimate feel than a big resort
- The single buffet of an all-inclusive gets old and you’d rather rotate restaurants
It’s probably not the right fit if you’re traveling with young kids who need a dedicated kids’ club, or if the core of your trip is a long beach outside your chair rather than the diving itself — in that case, Infinity Bay or Henry Morgan at West Bay will serve that better.
